La Gardenia Ghana is seeking an experienced Head Chef responsible for overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring the preparation of high-quality dishes while maintaining efficiency and profitability. This role involves menu creation, team leadership, food safety compliance, and cost management. The Head Chef works closely with restaurant management to deliver an exceptional dining experience and uphold the establishments reputation.

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities
Menu Planning & Development
  • Design and develop innovative menus based on customer preferences and seasonal ingredients.
  • Ensure menu items are cost-effective and align with the restaurants concept and goals.
  • Incorporate customer feedback to enhance menu offerings.
Kitchen Operations Management
  • Oversee all food preparation and cooking processes to ensure efficiency and quality.
  • Monitor food production levels and minimize waste.
  • Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.
Team Leadership & Training
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Conduct staff training on cooking techniques, hygiene, and restaurant standards.
  • Schedule and allocate tasks to ensure smooth operations during service hours.
Inventory & Cost Control
  • Manage kitchen inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels and minimizing waste.
  • Submit daily stock sheets to management for review.
  • Work closely with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients at competitive prices.
  • Track food costs and adjust pricing or portions as needed to maintain profitability.
Food Safety & Hygiene Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including FDA standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections to uphold cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen.
  • Implement safety protocols to prevent accidents and food contamination.
Collaboration with Management
  • Work with front-of-house staff to ensure a seamless dining experience for customers.
  • Provide regular reports on kitchen performance, budgeting, and customer feedback.
  • Assist in marketing efforts by developing signature dishes and participating in promotional events.


Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a similar leadership role.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food handling, preparation techniques, and international cuisines.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, cost control, and inventory management.
