Job summary
Intermine Procurement and Logistics Ltd is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Repair Supervisor – Caterpillar Fleet to lead and supervise maintenance execution activities for Caterpillar mining equipment operating within an open-pit mining environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Team Supervision & Maintenance Execution
- Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities of Mechanical, Electrical, and Service Technicians.
- Allocate manpower and maintenance resources according to operational priorities.
- Conduct daily toolbox meetings, shift briefings, and maintenance planning discussions.
- Monitor work progress and ensure maintenance tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Ensure proper shift handovers and communication between maintenance teams.
- Review completed maintenance activities and verify work quality.
Equipment Repair, Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Supervise preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities on Caterpillar mining equipment.
- Lead emergency troubleshooting and equipment recovery efforts.
- Coordinate fault diagnosis and repair using Caterpillar diagnostic systems including CAT ET and SIS.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with Caterpillar OEM repair standards and maintenance procedures.
- Support major component replacement, rebuilds, inspections, and overhaul programs.
- Minimize repeat failures through effective troubleshooting and corrective action implementation.
Fleet Reliability & Equipment Availability
- Support initiatives aimed at improving fleet reliability and equipment availability.
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for recurring equipment failures.
- Monitor equipment performance trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in reducing equipment downtime and improving maintenance efficiency.
- Support achievement of fleet performance and production targets.
Safety Management & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with company HSE policies, mining regulations, and client safety requirements.
- Conduct workplace inspections, toolbox talks, and maintenance risk assessments.
- Enforce compliance with:
- LOTO (Lockout/Tagout)
- Permit-to-Work procedures
- Equipment isolation procedures
- Hazard identification processes
- Safe work practices
- Emergency response procedures
- Participate in incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
- Promote a proactive safety culture within maintenance operations.
Spare Parts, Tools & Resource Management
- Coordinate spare parts requirements and maintenance material requests.
- Monitor utilization and condition of maintenance tools and workshop equipment.
- Work closely with Warehouse and Procurement teams to ensure availability of critical parts.
- Support inventory management and parts usage control initiatives.
- Ensure maintenance resources are utilized effectively.
Technical Documentation & Reporting
- Ensure accurate completion of work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Maintain equipment service histories and maintenance records.
- Review maintenance reports and ensure data accuracy.
- Prepare operational reports relating to maintenance activities, equipment status, and workforce productivity.
- Support maintenance KPI monitoring and reporting.
Team Development & Leadership
- Train, mentor, and develop technicians and junior maintenance personnel.
- Provide technical guidance during troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Identify competency gaps and recommend training requirements.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance monitoring and provide coaching where required.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate maintenance activities with Operations, Planning, Warehouse, Procurement, and HSE departments.
- Liaise with Caterpillar OEM representatives and external service providers when required.
- Support equipment availability and operational readiness initiatives.
- Assist management in achieving departmental and organizational objectives.
Qualification & ExperienceEducation
- Bachelor’s Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Heavy Equipment Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Automotive Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Or a related engineering discipline.
- Additional Caterpillar OEM training or certifications will be an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 6 years’ proven experience in maintenance and repair of Caterpillar mining equipment within open-pit mining operations.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or team leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience supervising maintenance execution teams.
- Experience working on Caterpillar haul trucks, excavators, dozers, wheel loaders, and motor graders is highly desirable.
