Intermine Procurement and Logistics Ltd is seeking an experienced, safety-focused, and results-driven Maintenance General Foreman – Tongli Heavy Trucks to lead maintenance operations for Tongli heavy mining equipment within an open-pit mining environment.

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning & Execution

  • Develop, review, and implement daily, weekly, monthly, and shutdown maintenance plans for Tongli fleet operations.
  • Translate maintenance objectives into executable work packages and supervise execution activities.
  • Monitor maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion of planned activities.
  • Coordinate preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance interventions.
  • Monitor work quality and ensure repairs are completed according to technical specifications.
  • Manage maintenance backlog and establish recovery plans.


Fleet Reliability & Equipment Availability

  • Drive equipment reliability and maximize fleet availability and utilization.
  • Lead troubleshooting and technical diagnosis of major equipment failures.
  • Conduct and supervise Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for repeated failures.
  • Develop corrective and preventive actions to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor maintenance KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives.


Key performance indicators may include:

  • Equipment Availability
  • Equipment Reliability
  • Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
  • Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
  • PM Compliance
  • Breakdown Frequency


Tongli Fleet Maintenance Supervision

  • Supervise maintenance execution for Tongli heavy equipment fleets.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with OEM standards and internal procedures.
  • Support major repairs, rebuilds, inspections, and component replacement activities.
  • Review maintenance records and approve technical recommendations.
  • Provide technical guidance during complex maintenance interventions.


Resource Coordination & Workshop Management

  • Coordinate manpower, spare parts, maintenance tools, workshop equipment, and field resources.
  • Manage maintenance priorities during breakdown situations.
  • Ensure effective allocation of maintenance personnel and contractor support.
  • Work closely with warehouse and procurement teams to ensure spare parts availability.
  • Improve labor productivity and resource utilization.


Safety, Health, Environment & Compliance

  • Enforce compliance with mine safety standards and company HSE requirements.
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to:
    • LOTO (Lockout/Tagout)
    • Hot Work Permit systems
    • Equipment isolation procedures
    • Risk Assessments
    • Safe Work Procedures
    • Incident reporting requirements
  • Conduct toolbox meetings and safety inspections.
  • Participate in investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across maintenance operations.


Quality Assurance & Maintenance Governance

  • Verify maintenance quality and ensure completed work meets OEM standards.
  • Conduct maintenance audits and inspections.
  • Approve equipment readiness before return to operation.
  • Ensure proper maintenance documentation and record management.


Cost Control & Operational Efficiency

  • Monitor maintenance expenditure and support cost optimization initiatives.
  • Control:
    • Spare parts consumption
    • Labour efficiency
    • Outsourcing costs
    • Equipment downtime losses
  • Promote repair and reuse programs where technically feasible.
  • Support maintenance budgeting and forecasting activities.


Leadership, Training & Performance Management

  • Lead Team Leaders, Supervisors, Technicians, and support personnel.
  • Manage workforce planning and shift coordination.
  • Conduct performance reviews and competency assessments.
  • Identify training requirements and support technical development.
  • Promote discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.


Stakeholder Management & Reporting

  • Liaise with:
    • Operations and Production Teams
    • Client Representatives
    • Procurement and Warehouse Teams
    • OEM Technical Support
    • Site Leadership
  • Prepare periodic operational reports including:
    • Fleet performance
    • Maintenance activities
    • Equipment downtime
    • Cost analysis
    • Safety statistics


Qualification & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in any of the following preferred fields:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Heavy Equipment Engineering
    • Mining Engineering
    • Mechatronics Engineering
    • Automotive Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
    • or a related engineering discipline.

 

  • A Master’s Degree (MSc/MEng) in a relevant engineering field will be considered an added advantage.
  • Relevant professional and technical certifications in heavy equipment maintenance, mining operations, equipment reliability, or maintenance management will be considered an advantage.


Professional Certification

  • Possession of a valid MinCom Inspectorate certification relevant to mining maintenance operations is required.
  • OEM training or certification will be considered an added advantage.


Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ proven experience in heavy equipment maintenance within open-pit mining operations.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in maintenance leadership, workshop management, or production management roles.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising large maintenance teams and coordinating fleet maintenance activities.


Other Requirements

  • Valid Ghanaian Driver’s License.
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to use maintenance systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making capability.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure within a mining operational environment.
