Job summary

The Stock Controller is responsible for managing inventory levels, monitoring stock movement, maintaining accurate stock records, and supporting financial accountability within the organization. The role requires strong inventory management skills combined with an accounting background to ensure proper reconciliation of stock, cost control, and accurate financial reporting.

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock availability.
  • Record all stock movements including receipts, transfers, returns, and dispatches.
  • Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile discrepancies with system records.
  • Prepare stock valuation and inventory reports for management.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of stock transactions and inventory records.
  • Work closely with the procurement and sales teams to ensure efficient stock flow.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory variances, damages, and losses.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control procedures and company policies.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports related to inventory and cost of goods sold.
  • Monitor expiry dates and slow-moving stock where applicable.
  • Reconcile stock records with accounting records and support audit processes.
  • Utilize inventory management software and accounting systems effectively.
  • Support budgeting and cost-control initiatives related to inventory management.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.


Qualification & Requirements

  • HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in stock control, inventory management, or warehouse operations.
  • Accounting background or experience in bookkeeping/account reconciliation is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory/accounting software.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
