Job Description/Requirements

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

A: Mining Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day running of assigned operations ensuring that operations are functioning smoothly.
  • Monitoring health and safety of drillers and technical staff assigned to you.
  • Costing and scheduling drilling.
  • Keep detailed records of drilling.
  • Manage monthly budgets / Targets.
  • Produce progress reports monthly.
  • Learn new skills as required in the area of drilling and blasting.
  • Liaise with suppliers of drilling machines for regular maintenance.
  • Maintain adequate stocks of spa and consumables for machine servicing.

B: Sale and Distribution

  • Explore opportunities, identify and develop new customers for the company’s products and services in the mining and quarry industry.
  • Manage customer accounts, ensuring appropriate follow up on orders, invoicing, payments made by customers, credit control as well as responding to issues arising out of transactions made. Debt recovery experience will be an advantage.
  • Liaise with the Logistics manager to identify new business in line with strategic objectives.
  • Plan and implement sales and customer retention and development strategies in conjunction with the logistics manager.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of drill and blast costs and results.

Qualifications, knowledge and skill requirement:

  • Must possess a Drill and Blast certificate of competency from the Minerals Commission of Ghana.
  • Must have an excellent understanding of the effects of mining operations in the surrounding environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and a creative approach to problem solving
  • An excellent knowledge of rocks and minerals.
  • Excellent maths, science and IT skills
  • A working knowledge of computer aided design packages
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • The ability to prioritize and plan effectively
  • The ability to work within a budget
  • A willingness to keep up to date with new developments.
  • Good team working skills.
  • A clear understanding of health and safety issues.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to client locations;
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of 5 years working experience in a mine or quarry.
