Key Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Record daily transactions including sales, purchases, expenses, and receipts.
- Reconcile bank statements and company accounts regularly.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Manage supplier invoices, payments, and reconciliations.
- Monitor customer accounts and ensure timely collections.
- Follow up on outstanding receivables and resolve discrepancies.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Work closely with warehouse and sales teams to track inventory movements.
- Monitor cost of goods sold (COGS) and product margins.
- Reconcile physical stock with accounting records.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Generate profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Provide financial insights to support business decisions.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
- Track performance against budgets and analyze variances.
Compliance & Taxation
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
- Prepare and file tax returns (VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, etc.).
- Liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies when required.
Internal Controls
- Implement and maintain strong financial controls.
- Detect and prevent fraud, errors, or financial leakages.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification (ACCA, ICA, CIMA) is an advantage.
- 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in FMCG or retail.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, ERP systems).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
