About the role

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Technical Support Engineer (freelance / on-call) to support our operations in installing, maintaining and repairing specialised document scanning and data capture solutions.

You will step in when needed supporting client projects, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring smooth operations when our core team requires additional capacity.

This is an ideal opportunity for an independent engineer or technician who wants flexible, project-based work with exposure to international technologies.


What you’ll do

  • Install and configure document scanners and data capture software at client sites
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on scanning equipment
  • Troubleshoot technical issues (on-site and remotely)
  • Support digitization projects during peak periods
  • Provide basic user guidance and training when needed
  • Submit clear service reports after each assignment


What we’re looking for

  • Background in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or similar
  • Experience with printers, scanners or electromechanical devices
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and respond quickly when needed
  • Experience with document capture or digitization systems
  • Basic knowledge of Windows environments and software installation
  • Field service experience (on-site technical support)


How this role works

  • You will be engaged on an on-call basis
  • Assignments will be scheduled based on project needs or support requests
  • Expected response time:
  • Remote support: within a few hours
  • On-site support: within 1–3 days (depending on location)


Compensation

Flexible structure depending on experience:

  • Per assignment / per visit fees
  • Travel cost reimbursement
  • Optional monthly retainer for priority availability
