Sous Chef
Job summary
A Reputable Restaurant is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to serve as the second-in-command of the kitchen and support the Executive Chef in leading daily culinary operations, food quality, service efficiency, food safety, cost control and team performance.

- Coordinate daily food production and kitchen workflow to achieve consistent quality, presentation and service timing.
- Ensure all menu items are prepared to approved recipes, portions, specifications and presentation standards.
- Supervise kitchen personnel across sections and allocate staff, tasks and production priorities effectively.
- Coach team members, monitor performance, support scheduling and promote discipline, teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Inspect food preparation, storage, sanitation, temperature control and allergen-management practices and correct non-compliance promptly.
- Monitor food cost, portion control, wastage, stock levels and production requirements and support inventory counts and procurement planning.
- Check food quality before release and respond quickly to service, staffing, equipment or supply challenges.
- Support menu development, recipe standardisation, events, banqueting and product innovation.
- Assume full responsibility for kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef and provide accurate operational reports.
- •Diploma, degree or equivalent professional qualification in Culinary Arts, Professional Cookery or Hospitality Management.
- At least five years of experience in a professional kitchen, including a minimum of two years in a supervisory culinary role.
- Strong culinary knowledge, leadership ability and practical experience with food cost, inventory, production planning and team scheduling.
- Sound knowledge of HACCP principles, food safety, sanitation, allergen control and contamination prevention.
- Ability to make timely decisions, solve operational problems and maintain standards during high-pressure service periods.
