Job Description/Requirements
Based in Accra, Ghana, the Logistics Manager will report to the Senior Sourcing Manager and be accountable for the following areas:
Responsibilities
Logistics Strategy
- Ensure Export and Import Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are clear, up to date, and continuously improved in line with EAA’s operating standards.
- Strategically plan all material and product movement, warehousing, transportation, and customer service logistics.
- Research and recommend optimal shipping routes, techniques, and carriers; negotiate contracts and rates accordingly.
- Track and data analyse trends in logistics timelines, costs, routes and providers to present back for inputs into future product costings and logistics plans
- Track and evaluate logistics costs, accuracy, and delivery timelines to assess internal performance and logistics partner effectiveness.
- Supervise, coach, and train logistics executives and warehouse teams at all factory locations.
- Proactively identify opportunities to streamline systems, tools, and processes across logistics functions.
- Ensure all logistics partners have signed the contract with EAA and are measured for performance.
- Co-ordination with other factories to share intel on logistics providers and understand challenges and opportunities
- Advocacy into the freezone and customs to administer change for the future
Logistics Operations
- Plan and monitor inbound and outbound deliveries for air and sea; coordinate the full shipment lifecycle including shipping lines and couriers to ensure all payments are made on time.
- Maintain direct communication with EAA’s customers to share shipping docs on times, exchange feedback and enhance service delivery.
- Partner with the Sourcing Manager and Accounts team to consolidate incoming raw materials and equipment
- Check and verify packing lists, commercial invoices, duty documentation and client specific docs for all incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring all prices, consignees and HS codes are correct.
- Manage warehousing and transportation processes; conduct periodic checks to verify goods received documentation at factory sites.
- Ensure full compliance with Ghanaian and destination country customs and shipping regulations.
- Maintain and update logistics tracking tools weekly; share relevant updates with internal teams, clients, and factories.
- Oversee Free Zone documentation accuracy and compliance for EAA-owned facilities.
- Co-ordinate with Customs and Freezone & forwarder to ensure on time delivery and accuracy for ICUMS, BOE and E track.
- Coordinate with customs and freezone for any movement of goods to partner factories from EAA’s main factory.
- Maintain performance scorecards for logistics providers and initiate improvements based on feedback.
- Uphold all logistics activities in accordance with EAA’s Code of Conduct anti- bribery and legal compliance policies.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in hands-on logistics roles within manufacturing or export-oriented sectors.
- Preference of demonstrated experience with Freezone and Customs
- Strong understanding of international logistics, shipment documentation, customs processes, and compliance.
- Proven experience managing air and sea shipments, with specific expertise in import logistics from Asia and exports to the US, UK and EU (including AGOA and GSP formalities).
- Established network of logistics and Free Zone contacts in Ghana.
- Proficient in standard logistics and inventory management software.
- Skilled negotiator with strong communication abilities across multicultural teams.
- Highly analytical and entrepreneurial with a continuous improvement mindset.
