Lead, Quality Control
Job descriptions & requirements
Our client is a well-established, proudly Ghanaian food and lifestyle brand operating multiple locations across Accra, with a strong reputation for quality. As the organisation continues to grow, an experienced Quality Controller is sought to join the factory team and ensure the consistency, safety, and integrity of its products.
About the Role
This is a senior role requiring independent judgement and authority, distinct from a routine quality-checking function. Reporting directly to the Proprietor, the Quality Controller will be responsible for designing and administering a structured internal audit programme across the factory, overseeing the Quality Management System, and identifying risk before it results in product recall, legal exposure, or non-compliance. The role also carries lead responsibility for the organisation's progress toward ISO and HACCP certification.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and administer a rotating internal audit programme covering production, raw materials, machinery, storage, supply chain, and personnel, with a designated area of focus per audit cycle
- Maintain quality documentation and audit records, and lead preparation for regulatory and certification inspections
- Investigate complaints and non-conformances, implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and verify the effectiveness of corrective measures
- Analyse audit data over time to identify systemic trends and advise the Proprietor accordingly
- Identify deficient controls, duplicated effort, and non-compliance with laid-down policies and standard operating procedures
- Design and deliver staff training on hygiene, sanitation, and quality standards
- Prepare and submit formal, evidence-based audit reports to leadership
Qualifications
- A university degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field
- A minimum of four to six years' experience in a food manufacturing quality assurance, quality control, or internal audit function, ideally within an ISO, HACCP, or GMP-certified environment, including experience managing a Quality Management System and leading CAPA or root-cause investigations
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to non-technical leadership
- Sound interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage staff at all levels, including during investigations
- Willingness to work across both office and factory floor environments
Confidential Recruitment
The identity of the hiring organisation will not be disclosed at the application stage. Shortlisted candidates will receive full details during the interview process.
