Quality Control Lab Technician
Job summary
The Quality Control Lab Technician is responsible for conducting laboratory tests and inspections on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure they meet established quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The role involves collecting and preparing samples, performing laboratory analyses, recording test results, and identifying quality issues or deviations. The technician also maintains laboratory equipment and records, follows standard operating procedures and safety protocols, reports non-conformities, and supports the Quality Control team in maintaining consistent product quality and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities
- Perform prescribed testing of raw materials, work-in-progress materials, and finished products to ensure compliance with the company’s quality standards.
- Accurately record, interpret, and report laboratory test results and contribute to the evaluation of product quality trends.
- Prepare laboratory reports and maintain accurate records of all test results and quality control activities.
- Maintain laboratory equipment in good working condition and perform routine calibration, adjustments, and preventive maintenance as required.
- Assist with research and development activities, including testing new raw materials, formulations, and production processes to improve product quality and efficiency.
- Monitor product quality throughout the production process and promptly report any deviations or non-conformities.
- Adhere to laboratory safety regulations and procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP requirements, and relevant product safety and sanitation policies.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic laboratory environment.
Qualification/Experience
- HND/BSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience in a laboratory or quality control environment.
- Knowledge of microbiology, chemical testing principles, GMP, and HACCP is required.
- Experience in food, feed, manufacturing, or a related industrial environment will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint applications.
- Strong ability to accurately record, analyse, and interpret laboratory results.
