Job Summary:
Manage and maintain both Physical and Virtual IT infrastructure, and employee management of the Data center as well as ICT units of Infrastructure operations Department.
Ensuring the confidentiality, availability and integrity of the critical infrastructure while providing industry leading support to both internal and external customers.
Full accountability of the enterprise systems operations (Servers, Storage and E2E Monitoring of the IT Nodes)

Job Role
- Oversee server room operations, physical security, and facility management, hardware and equipment maintenance ensuring no disruption of critical systems.
- Manage the teams that operate and support the Datacenter Facilities of MTN Ghana which include Servers, Storage, and Monitoring Tools.
- Identify operational and personnel requirements to achieve departmental objectives.
- Day to day service operations with datacenter best practices and standards linked to ITIL and COBIT5 disciplines such as incident, problem, change, business continuity and disaster recovery management.
- Implementation of detailed operational general control procedures, security policies and ground rules for the Datacenter
- Document and enhance the standard operating procedures of the relevant platforms.
- Ensure effective operation of the business’s backup and Disaster Recovery plans.
- Ensure E2E Service Monitoring for all system nodes.
- Full accountability of the Virtual Infrastructure and the support for the virtualization and Cloud initiatives
- Ensure effective operation of the enterprise storage infrastructure.
- Contribute to datacentre service transformation for hosted services with provisioning and managing environment to business customers.
- Assist in preparing RFPs, scope of work reports, and other documentations needed for datacentre, Storage, Virtual Infrastructure projects and associated efforts.
- Provide full operational support for the enterprise ICT initiatives.
- Collaborate with the other departments on related change management and backup/disaster plans.
- Preparation and collation of all weekly/monthly report on datacentre activities and submit to the Line Manager.
- Oversee and ensure acknowledged Audit Observations are closed within the agreed timelines.
- Assist in the development of the staff and contributes to the staff performance objective (IPF) setting process.
- Assist to review hardware proposals and quotations from vendors to ensure MTN standards are met.
- Perform related duties assigned by line manager.
Education
Minimum of 1st Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or its equivalent
- MCSE and CCNA Professional Certifications a must.
- ITIL V3 Certification a must
- Datacenter Certified Specialist a must
- COBIT5: Business Framework for the Governance and Management of Enterprise IT a must
Experience Minimum of 5 years’ of experience in IT with at least 3 years in a supervisory role Experience in Fintech, banking or Financial Services is preferred.
Experience working in a global/multinational enterprise with a good understanding of emerging markets is preferred.
Competencies
Professional/Technical Competencies:
- Sound knowledge of internetworking technology.
- Knowledge of security areas such as Auditing, Policy, Firewall Design and Implementation
- TCP/IP, LAN and WAN Topologies, including advanced network technologies.
- HP, SUN and Cisco Technologies, Software’s, Devices and application administration.
- Data Centre Standards, Operations and Management; including capacity planning, design and roll outs.
- Good skills and knowledge in the areas of MCSE, CCNA, ITIL/ITSM (IT Service Management and Business Service Management).
- Project Management Approach and alignment to Dynamic IT Approach
- Knowledge on Datacentre technologies
- Knowledge on HP, SUN/Oracle, IBM, EMC, Huawei platforms, Ericsson, Cloud Technology
