Job Summary

Reporting to the COO, the Director, HR will help define and then execute the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention, ensuring that our HR policies and processes best support the organization’s strategic goals. With 85 staff in 20+ different countries, the director is also responsible for ensuring consistency throughout the organisation, fostering a common sense of belonging across the various regions, and supporting an inclusive, thriving work environment for all throughout the complete work life cycle. They plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy.

Job Description/Requirements

Primary Responsibilities

HR strategic planning and compliance

  • With input from the senior management team, defines and implements the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information systems.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations in the US and in other countries as appropriate and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.

HR management

  • Accountable for the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Supports DEI initiatives as relevant.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Team leadership and management

  • Supervises HR staff, providing leadership, guidance and feedback and supporting teams to resolve complex problems.
  • Establishes strategic goals and objectives and key results (OKRs) with team members, manages performance and track delivery.
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  • Maintains the department’s budget.
  • Develops, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures a safe, secure, welcoming, and legal work environment.



  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field required, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 3 years managing a team.
  • Highly organized, analytical, detail oriented and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently to a very high standard of detail.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and communicate project updates to stakeholders in a transparent and proactive manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines while performing in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • An understanding of the complexities and internal communications surrounding collaboration in a global matrix and remote organization.
