Transport Manager
Job summary
The Transport Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the organization's transportation operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of people, goods, or materials. The role involves managing the vehicle fleet, supervising drivers, ensuring compliance with transport regulations, optimizing routes, monitoring vehicle maintenance, and maintaining high standards of safety and operational performance. The Transport Manager also works closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure timely and reliable transport services while controlling operational costs

Responsibilities
- Track deliveries of various tracks, fuel, and maintenance checks
- Schedule operations and route management
- Produce detailed reports that can be used for strategic decision making.
- Ensure that reports are produced on time and frequently
- Train, monitor and supervise drivers
- Ensure that all drivers and workers comply with all transport laws and regulations
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, vendors and service providers, to negotiate pricings, resolve issues and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Business development. Bringing in new business
- Assist in identifying risks, vulnerabilities and opportunities in operational processes, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
- Working with HR team on recruiting, interviewing and hiring drivers.
- Maintaining working knowledge of the industry, including challenges and opportunities in the sector.
- Using history or records to forecast future behavior of clients and business
- Assist in designing new processes to improve quality or increase productivity or profitability
Required Skills
Education / Experience
- HND / Degree in logistics and transport management or other related courses
- Minimum 5 years working experience in shipping and logistics industry
- Experience in fleet management and Mechanical Experience
