Safety and Security Supervisor

Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain comprehensive security and safety protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe learning environment. This includes procedures for handling emergencies, preventing incidents, and ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations.
• Regularly evaluate and identify potential safety and security risks, vulnerabilities, and hazards across the school.
• Prepare recommendations and strategies to mitigate risks and enhance overall security measures.
• Design, implement, and coordinate emergency response plans. This includes planning for fire drills, lockdown procedures, evacuations, and other emergency situations.
• Organize and oversee regular training sessions and mock drills for staff and students.
• Supervise, train, and manage security personnel on site.
• Ensure that all security staff are well-prepared to carry out their duties in accordance with the school’s safety policies.
• Oversee the implementation and management of access control measures to regulate entry to the school.
• Ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed access to the school facilities.
• Develop and maintain a process for reporting, investigating, and documenting security incidents.
• Provide detailed incident reports to school management and local authorities when necessary.
• Conduct safety awareness training for staff, students, and parents.
• Promote a culture of security awareness, including educating staff and students on best practices for maintaining personal safety and preventing security incidents.
• Ensure that the school adheres to all relevant safety, security, and regulatory standards.
• Keep updated on local laws and safety regulations that apply to the school environment and ensure compliance.
• Oversee safety measures during school events, ensuring proper security staffing, and management of visitors.
• Manage the issuance of visitor passes and monitor the entrance and exit of non-staff individuals.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Risk Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Previous experience in security or safety coordination, preferably within an educational institution.
• Knowledge of local safety laws and regulations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to assess security risks and develop effective safety strategies.
• Experience with security systems (surveillance, access control, etc.) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Working Conditions:

• Standard working hours from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, the coordinator may be required to conduct evening visits and participate in weekend activities or events as needed.
• Occasional travel for training, safety drills, or coordination with local authorities may be required.
