Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Lead
Job summary
OLAM Ghana is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Lead to champion workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance across its operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing HSE strategies, promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Develop, implement, and monitor Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Ensure compliance with Ghanaian occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company standards.
- Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Lead incident investigations, prepare reports, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Organize and deliver HSE training, inductions, and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
- Monitor environmental performance, including waste management, pollution prevention, and resource conservation initiatives.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness plans, evacuation drills, and business continuity procedures.
- Maintain HSE documentation, records, and regulatory reports.
- Advise management on HSE risks and recommend practical solutions to improve workplace safety.
- Foster a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant HSE experience, preferably in manufacturing, agribusiness, FMCG, logistics, or an industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience implementing HSE management systems and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practices.
- Excellent risk assessment and incident investigation skills.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management abilities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to influence and promote a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
