The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) invites applications from suitably qualified Ghanaians who are goal-oriented, results-driven with good leadership qualities and enthusiasm for appointment to the following position: Head, Public Affairs
Job Description

• Plan, develop and implement strategic communication plan
• Co-ordinate all media activities of the Association
• Train regional, district and local officers on effective handling of the media
• Monitor the media landscape daily and appropriately deal with all issue concerning the association in the media and strategies responses
• Serve as the editor-in-Chef of all in-house publicity documents and audiovisual materials
• Ensure the Association website is always up to date with information and well maintained
• Supervise and appraise the performance of direct reports
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the General Secretary from time to time
  

Qualification Required & Experience

• Must have master's degree in Communications, Public Policy, Public Relations, International Relations or a related field from a recognized institution
• Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in public affairs, public relations, government relations, media relations of strategic communications
• Must be at least 40 years and not above 55 years of age
• Proven track record influencing public policy and managing complex stakeholder environments
• Exceptional leadership, negotiation and interpersonal skills
• Strong media acumen and experience in high-stakes communication
• Must pass a competitive selection interview
• Having professional certification with the institute of public relations Ghana in good standing as an Associate Member and above or its equivalent is an added advantage
• A professional teacher and a member of GNAT in good standing will be an added advantage
• Members with Ghana Education Service who possess the above experience and qualifications should in addition be on the rank of Assistant Director I
• In-Service staff of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Teaching of Non-Teaching) who possess the above qualification and experience should also have at least 3 years of working experience within the organization in addition to the above qualification to apply.
