Science Teacher (JHS)

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Science Education.
• Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in teaching Science at the Junior High School level.
• Excellent subject matter knowledge, highly skilled in handling Scientific equipment/apparatus.
• Proficiency in modern educational technology and teaching pedagogy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning.
• Develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives.
• Assess and record student progress and provide grades and feedback.
• Develop and construct standard test for learners’ assessment.
• Apply differentiated teaching and assessment in the classroom.
• Ignite learners’ interest in reading and creative writing.
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
• Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and support of student organizations.
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, supervisors regarding student progress and student needs.

Additional Skills and Qualities:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to motivate learners to study and perform high in achievement test relative to the subject.
• Able to develop strategic plan which prepare learners to excel in English Language at the BECE.
• Able to implement remediation strategies to support learners with reading and writing challenges.
• Able to create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment.
