Job Vacancy For University Librarian

The Governing Council of the University of Education, Winneba, invites applications from suitably qualified and competent individuals for the position of UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN.
THE POSITION
• The University Librarian shall, under the Vice-Chancellor, be responsible for the management of all libraries and related information and communication materials and resources of the University in accordance with rules and regulations approved by the Academic Board.
• S/he shall be responsible for the provision of adequate reading, listening and viewing materials to support the teaching, research and extension functions of the University.
• S/he shall be responsible for maintaining linkages with local and international organizations involved in library work.
Qualification Required & Experience
Candidates seeking the position must:
• possess M. Phil. in Librarianship/Information Studies/Archival Studies OR other relevant disciplines, Ph.D. will be an added advantage.
• served as a Deputy Librarian in a recognized University or similar institution for a minimum of five (5) years or be a Senior Assistant Librarian with at least eight (8) publications since his/her last appointment.
• be a member of a Library Professional Association including the Ghana Library Association (GLA).
In addition, the applicant must have:
• practical experience in all aspects of University library work.
• solid skills in library related IT infrastructure and other systems.
• a high level of managerial and human relations skills.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
The appointment is full-time. Successful applicants should be able to serve at least four (4) years before reaching the compulsory retirement age of sixty (60). The successful candidate shall be expected to assume duty by 1st October, 2025
