Special Education Teacher

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess students' strengths, challenges, and learning goals.
• Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address students' unique needs, accommodations, and modifications.
• Adapt curriculum materials, teaching strategies, and instructional approaches to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students with disabilities.
• Provide differentiated instruction and scaffolding to support students in accessing grade-level content and achieving academic success.
• Create a structured and supportive classroom environment that fosters positive behavior, collaboration, and mutual respect among students.
• Utilize assistive technology tools and resources to enhance students' access to the curriculum and facilitate their participation in learning activities.
• Provide training and support to students in the use of assistive technology devices and software applications.
• Collect and analyze data on students' academic progress, behavior, and skill development to inform instructional decision-making and IEP goal setting.
• Conduct ongoing assessments and progress monitoring activities to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and instructional strategies.
• Provide resources, guidance, and advocacy support to families navigating the special education system and accessing community services.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, administrators, and external service providers to ensure coordinated and cohesive support for students with disabilities.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Bachelor's in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
• Special education teaching certification or licensure, as required by state or local regulations.
• Experience working with students with disabilities in a classroom or educational setting.
• Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices in assessment and instruction.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Compassion, patience, and a commitment to advocating for the needs and rights of students with disabilities.
