Role Description The Professional Cook role is a full-time, on-site position located in Accra. The cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to hotel standards, ensuring quality, taste, and presentation align with brand expectations. Day-to-day tasks include organizing and maintaining the kitchen workstation, following standardized recipes and portion sizes, and supporting menu planning with the culinary team. The cook will adhere to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations, manage inventory and ingredient rotation, and coordinate with service staff to ensure timely food delivery. This role also involves collaborating with colleagues, assisting in training junior staff, and contributing to a positive and efficient kitchen environment.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated culinary skills, including food preparation, cooking methods, and plating techniques suitable for hotel or restaurant service.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards, including proper storage, handling, and kitchen cleanliness practices.
  • Experience working in a professional kitchen environment, preferably in hotels or high-volume restaurants.
  • Ability to work efficiently during peak service hours, manage multiple orders, and maintain consistency in quality.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions and collaborate with chefs and service staff.
  • Basic inventory and stock management skills, including monitoring ingredients, minimizing waste, and reporting shortages.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by hotel operations.
  • Culinary training, certification, or a diploma from a recognized culinary school is an advantage.
  • Prior experience in Ghanaian and international cuisine is highly beneficial.
