SIGnAfrika, an initiative of the Nakwa Arms Foundation, is dedicated to promoting Sign Language and advocating for Deaf employment in Ghana. The campaign aims to bridge the gap between the Deaf and hearing communities, fostering understanding, communication, and opportunities for collaboration. With a focus on addressing the challenges caused by communication barriers, this initiative empowers individuals and organizations to engage meaningfully with the Deaf community. By offering free sign language tuition and promoting the importance of Deaf employment, SIGnAfrika is driving positive social change and creating inclusive opportunities for the Deaf across Africa.

Role Description

This is a contract-based remote position for an Owner role at SIGnAfrika. The Owner will be responsible for overseeing the strategy and operations of the organization while ensuring alignment with its mission of promoting Sign Language and enhancing employment opportunities for the Deaf community in Ghana. Key responsibilities include fostering partnerships, driving community engagement, managing program initiatives, and leading advocacy efforts. The Owner will also collaborate with stakeholders to expand the campaign’s impact and secure support for its initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership and team management experience
• Familiarity with nonprofit operations, community engagement, and advocacy campaigns
• Strong communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills
• Experience in project management and organizational strategy
• Proficiency in networking and partnership development
• Understanding of sign language or willingness to learn
• Passion for social impact, inclusivity, and supporting underrepresented communities
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting
