Job Summary
KB3D is seeking a Material Artist to join our growing global team on a full-time basis and help make our mission a reality. In this role, you’ll work alongside our amazing team of concept artists, modelers, and material artists creating materials and shaders across multiple genres. You have a serious passion for creating complex and appealing materials and contributing to the art community. You will receive artistic feedback from management and senior artists, striving to make each project better than the last. You will report to the Asset Supervisor, ensuring all projects are completed within specifications and on budget. As our ideal candidate, creating amazing and efficient materials is your primary area of focus, drawing on your experience working in the video game or VFX industry. You are extremely proficient with 3D software and enjoy the challenge of working on a wide range of genres and projects and are consistently finding ways to improve yourself as well as others. You have strong technical skills and a great eye for design, balance, and composition. You also have the soft skills of knowing how to communicate effectively with your supervisors, team, and other departments across the company. You are organized, efficient, creative, open-minded, and excited to be a part of an unstoppable team.

Job Description/Requirements
What You'll Contribute
- Material Design: Interpret a moodboard, define a material style, and create a set of tileable PBR materials.
- PBR Workflow: Create and deliver Substance materials and PBR textures in line with our pipeline.
- Material Application: Apply materials to 3D models and adjust UVs to fit the needs of the textures.
- Rendering: Render beautiful images of the 3D models, in your software of choice, with your materials applied for visual approval and potential marketing use
What You Bring to the Team
- 2-3 years of experience creating high-quality materials for video games, VFX, or related industries
- Extremely proficient in Substance Designer and Substance Painter
- Solid understanding of PBR workflows, UVs, and surface/light interaction
- Portfolio of work demonstrating proficiency in material creation, specifically for environments and props
- A comprehensive understanding of Non-Overlapping UVs for game-engines
- Ability to deliver clean, organized work, while still within our technical specifications
- An exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette
- Conversationally fluent in English with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively
