Job descriptions & requirements


To support the university’s human resource functions by assisting in the recruitment, development, administration, and retention of employees while ensuring compliance with HR policies and labor regulations. As an on-site representative of the HR department, this role is critical in maintaining a physical presence to support faculty and staff needs across the campus.


Key Responsibilities


• Recruitment and Selection: Assist in posting job vacancies, screening applications, coordinating interviews, and preparing employment contracts for new employees.

• Employee Onboarding: Coordinate new employee orientation programs, process documentation, and facilitate the induction process to ensure a smooth transition into the university culture.

• Personnel Administration: Maintain meticulous employee records, manage leave requests, and ensure accurate physical and digital HR filing systems.

• Policy Implementation: Communicate HR policies and procedures to employees and ensure organizational compliance with established guidelines.

• Training and Development: Support the coordination and delivery of employee training programs and professional development initiatives.

• Employee Relations: Handle routine employee inquiries on-site, address concerns promptly, and assist in conflict resolution processes.

• Performance Management: Assist in organizing performance management/appraisal processes and maintaining related documentation.

• Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to national labor laws and internal institutional regulations.


Competencies & Qualification


Academic & Professional Qualifications


• Minimum: Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, or a related field.

• Certification: Professional HR certification is required.

• Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in HR Administration or a related function.


Technical Competencies


• Labor Law Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Ghana's labor laws and employment regulations.

• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present information clearly to a diverse academic community.

• Software Proficiency: High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Interpersonal Skills: Competency in employee relations and a proactive approach to conflict resolution.

• Discretion: Proven ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of integrity
