Director/Senior Manager –Accra and Nairobi

Role Overview

Farrelly Mitchell is seeking a high-calibre Senior Manager or Director to join its consulting practice in Accra or Nairobi.


These are senior, market-facing leadership roles suited to candidates currently operating at Senior Manager or Director level within top-tier consulting firms (Big 4, top tier consultancy, or equivalent) who are seeking increased ownership, leadership responsibility, and the opportunity to play a central role in building and scaling a regional consulting practice.


Successful candidates will take on significant responsibility across client leadership, team development, and business growth, working closely with the Head of Africa to shape and execute the firm’s regional strategy.


Key Responsibilities

1. Regional Leadership & Market Development

  • Act as a senior representative in Ghana and the wider West Africa region/Nairobi and the wider East Africa region, strengthening brand presence and credibility
  • Support the development and execution of the firm’s Africa growth strategy
  • Build and maintain relationships with government, investors, agribusinesses, and development partners
  • Identify and prioritise new market opportunities across the region


2. Business Development & Commercial Leadership

  • Origination, development, and conversion of high-value consulting opportunities
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of work across the agri-food and investment landscape
  • Develop strong senior client relationships, positioning the firm as a trusted advisor
  • Lead the preparation and negotiation of proposals, tenders, and commercial engagements
  • Drive delivery against revenue and performance targets


3. Client Leadership & Engagement Delivery

  • Lead complex, high-impact consulting engagements across multiple markets
  • Ensure delivery of strategic, actionable, and commercially grounded outputs
  • Oversee engagement quality, timelines, and financial performance
  • Act as a senior point of contact for key client stakeholders
  • Ensure consistent delivery excellence across all assignments


4. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Support the development a high-performing local consulting team
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to more junior colleagues
  • Embed global best practices and quality standards across the team


6. Sector Leadership – Agri-Food & Food Systems

  • Bring insight and leadership across:
  • Agricultural value chains
  • Food processing and manufacturing
  • Food system transformation and resilience
  • Agribusiness investment and development
  • Integrate sustainability and ESG principles into client work
  • Contribute to the firm’s thought leadership in food systems and agriculture


Candidate Profile

Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience in management consulting or related advisory roles
  • Currently operating at Senior Manager or Director level within a top-tier firm (Big 4, top-tier consulting firm, or equivalent)
  • Proven track record of:
  • Leading complex engagements
  • Managing client relationships at a senior level
  • Delivering measurable commercial outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience in business development and winning new work
  • Success in the role depends on the ability to cultivate and expand lasting client relationships that drive long-term strategic value and growth


Sector Expertise

  • Strong interest in and exposure to the agri-food or food systems sector
  • Familiarity with working alongside investors, corporates, or development organisations


Leadership & Commercial Skills

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance impact and financial performance
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Ability to operate with ownership, accountability, and strategic perspective
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
