Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation
- Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and measuring according to menu specifications.
- Cook meals using various methods such as frying, grilling, baking, boiling, and sautéing.
- Follow recipes, portion control guidelines, and presentation standards.
- Assist in planning daily or weekly menus if required.
Meal Production & Quality Control
- Ensure all dishes are prepared on time and meet quality, taste, and appearance standards.
- Adjust seasoning, flavors, and consistency as needed.
- Prepare special meals for individuals with dietary restrictions or allergies.
- Maintain freshness of food items by adhering to storage and rotation procedures (FIFO).
Kitchen Hygiene & Safety
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen at all times.
- Sanitize work surfaces, utensils, and cooking equipment before and after use.
- Ensure proper storage of food items to avoid contamination.
- Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
Inventory & Supplies Management
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients, spices, and kitchen supplies.
- Inform supervisors when items need to be replenished.
- Properly label and store leftovers and perishable items.
- Reduce food waste by using ingredients efficiently.
Equipment Handling & Maintenance
- Operate kitchen equipment safely (ovens, stoves, mixers, fryers, blenders, etc.).
- Report faulty or damaged equipment immediately.
- Ensure all tools and machinery are cleaned and maintained regularly.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist with meal planning, food budgeting, or menu development when asked.
- Support in serving food if required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience as a Cook.
- Knowledge of various cooking techniques and food safety standards.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and prepare meals efficiently.
- Good time management and multitasking skills.
- Physical stamina to stand for long hours and perform kitchen tasks.
- Creativity and passion for food.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Should have at least HND / Diploma and be good in English language and writing.
- Must be ready to be contracted to work at least for 2 years
