Co‑founder & Ceo (equity‑only + Small Monthly Allowance)
Job descriptions & requirements
Location: Ghana (Accra-first) | Commitment:Full-time preferred (high-ownership)
Compensation:Meaningful equity (co-founder level) + small monthly allowance (to be discussed, if required)
Stage: Early-stage build + go-to-market
HandyConnect is a secure service management marketplace connecting Ghanaian homeowners, property managers, regular businesses and estate developers with verified local artisans. We’re solving the “trust gap” in home & HVAC services: clients’ money stays protected in a digital vault until the job is completed and verified, then artisans get paid fast via (MoMo) or bank. We’re looking for a Co‑Founder/CEO to lead HandyConnect to market, starting with an Accra-focused launch.
The Role
You’ll be the business and execution lead, owning go-to-market, operations, partnerships, and growth. This is not a “manage from afar” CEO role. It’s hands-on: building the playbook, recruiting the early team, and driving daily execution until the engine is running.
What You’ll Own (Responsibilities)
- Go-to-market leadership: Define and execute the launch plan for Accra (supply + demand), including positioning, pricing, and growth loops.
- Marketplace growth: Build artisan acquisition and retention strategy (verification pipeline, onboarding, quality control, incentives).
- Customer acquisition: Drive homeowner, landlord, regular businesses and property manager adoption through partnerships, community channels, and performance marketing experiments.
- Operations & trust: Set up the operating rhythm for job fulfillment, dispute resolution, quality assurance, and customer support—protecting the brand promise.
- Partnerships: Build key relationships (payments, warranty/insurance partners, property managers, real estate developers, trade associations).
- Team building: Hire and manage early operators (ops, support, growth, community) and set a high-accountability culture.
- Metrics & reporting: Own KPIs (GMV, activation, retention, CAC/LTV, job completion rate, dispute rate) and make data-driven decisions.
- Fundraising readiness (if needed): Help shape the story, traction plan, and investor materials once early traction is proven.
What Success Looks Like (First 90–180 Days)
- Accra launch executed with strong artisan density in priority neighborhoods.
- Repeatable onboarding + verification flow for artisans.
- Clear customer journey with strong trust signals (escrow, ratings, tracking, warranties where applicable).
- Early traction: consistent weekly job volume, improving retention, and a clear growth channel that’s working.
Who You Are (Ideal Profile)
- An enthusiastic, reliable person who’s excited to build something big in Ghana.
- You’ve got some experience in business, startups, sales, operations, or growth (doesn’t need to be perfect).
- You’re confident talking to people—customers, artisans, partners—and you can represent the brand well.
- You learn fast, take feedback well, and you don’t wait to be chased to get things done.
- You’re comfortable with an equity-first setup (co-founder level), with a small monthly allowance available if needed (to be discussed).
- Bonus (not required): experience in marketplaces, fintech/payments, home services, or anything in the property/artisan space.
Why This Is Interesting
- Big, real problem: home services in Ghana has massive demand and a serious trust gap.
- Clear differentiator: escrow-backed payments + verification creates safety for clients and reliable payouts for artisans.
- Opportunity to build a category-defining brand: “Verified pros. Zero wahala.”
