NIHR GSU Ghana Hub is seeking an experienced and highly organized Clinical Trial Project Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of clinical research projects and trials. The successful candidate will coordinate trial activities across participating research sites, work closely with investigators and research teams, monitor project progress, and ensure that studies are delivered according to approved protocols, timelines, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee clinical trial activities from initiation through completion.
  • Develop and monitor project timelines, milestones, deliverables, and budgets.
  • Coordinate activities between the Ghana Hub, principal investigators, research teams, and participating clinical sites.
  • Support site initiation, site activation, recruitment, monitoring, and trial close-out activities.
  • Monitor recruitment progress and identify potential risks or delays.
  • Ensure trial activities are conducted in accordance with approved protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate training and meetings for research staff and participating sites.
  • Maintain accurate trial documentation and project records.
  • Prepare regular project progress reports and updates for relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify, document, and escalate project risks and issues.
  • Work closely with data, finance, regulatory, and clinical teams to ensure effective trial delivery.
  • Liaise with relevant regulatory and institutional stakeholders where required.
  • Support preparation for monitoring visits, audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Ensure timely communication and follow-up on project action points.
  • Contribute to the preparation of study reports, presentations, and other project documentation.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Clinical Research, Public Health, Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience managing or coordinating clinical trials or health research projects.
  • Good understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and clinical research processes.
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and research sites.
  • Strong project planning, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with clinical research teams, hospitals, universities, or research institutions is an advantage.

Preferred Skills
  • Clinical trial project management experience.
  • Experience with multi-site clinical trials.
  • Knowledge of Ghanaian clinical research and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience preparing research reports and regulatory documentation.
  • Strong stakeholder and team management skills.
  • Ability to travel to participating research sites when required.
