Job summary

We are seeking a reliable, customer-focused, and detail-oriented Experienced Cashier to join our team. The successful candidate will handle customer transactions efficiently, provide excellent customer service, maintain accurate cash records, and support daily store operations. The ideal applicant should have strong numerical skills, honesty, professionalism, and previous experience working in a fast-paced retail or business environment.

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet customers warmly and provide professional customer service.
  • Process cash, credit card, mobile money, and other payment transactions accurately.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change to customers.
  • Balance the cash register at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and resolve issues professionally.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization around the checkout area.
  • Monitor and report suspicious transactions or counterfeit currency.
  • Assist customers with product information, pricing, and promotions.
  • Work closely with sales staff and supervisors to ensure smooth store operations.
  • Maintain accurate transaction records and prepare daily sales reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and security standards.
  • Support stock arrangement, labeling, and inventory checks when necessary.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of cashier or retail experience.
  • Strong mathematical and cash-handling skills.
  • Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems and basic computer applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple customers efficiently.
  • Honest, trustworthy, and attentive to detail.
  • Good problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of customer service best practices.
  • Ability to upsell products and promote special offers.
  • Experience handling mobile money or electronic payment platforms.
  • Teamwork and time-management skills.
  • Fast-paced retail or business environment.
