Storekeeper – Restaurant
Job summary
The Storekeeper is responsible for managing the receipt, storage, and issuance of all food, beverage, and non-food items in the restaurant. This role ensures stock levels are maintained, inventory is accurate, all goods are handled safely and efficiently. The Storekeeper plays a key role in preventing waste, pilferage, and ensuring smooth kitchen and restaurant operations.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Receive, inspect, and verify all deliveries for quantity and quality.
- Store food, beverages, and supplies safely, maintaining proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity, hygiene).
- Maintain accurate stock records and perform regular inventory counts.
- Monitor stock levels and notify management when reordering is required.
- Rotate stock using First-In-First-Out (FIFO) principles to minimize spoilage.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain up-to-date stock cards, logs, and inventory reports.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports for management.
- Record any discrepancies, losses, or damages and report to the Restaurant Manager.
- Ensure the storage area is clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Follow health and safety standards, including proper food storage and handling procedures.
- Comply with Ghana FDA regulations for food storage and safety.
- Work closely with chefs, kitchen staff, and restaurant floor staff to ensure timely supply of ingredients and materials.
- Assist with the movement of stock to the kitchen and restaurant floor as needed.
- Support procurement or purchasing staff with stock requests and documentation.
- Minimum: Senior High School certificate; additional training in logistics, supply chain, or inventory management is an advantage.
- At least 4 years of experience in inventory or storekeeping, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of food storage, handling, and safety standards.
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to operate basic inventory tools/software is a plus.
- Physically fit for lifting, stacking, and moving stock.
- Reports directly to the Restaurant Manager or Inventory Controller.
- Coordinates with kitchen and floor teams for supply needs.
