Job summary

We are seeking a responsible, hardworking, and reliable Poultry Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day management and care of approximately 600 birds. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the birds are properly fed, watered, and cared for while maintaining a clean, hygienic, and healthy farm environment. The farm uses an automatic drinking system, and the Farm Manager will be responsible for regularly monitoring the system to ensure the birds have continuous access to clean water and promptly reporting any faults or issues.

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily care and management of approximately 600 birds.
  • Monitor the health, feeding, growth, and general condition of the birds.
  • Ensure birds are properly fed according to the required feeding schedule.
  • Monitor the automatic drinking system and ensure a continuous supply of clean water.
  • Regularly inspect automatic drinkers for blockages, leaks, or other faults.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene within the poultry house and surrounding farm areas.
  • Clean and disinfect poultry facilities and equipment as required.
  • Observe birds for signs of illness, injury, or unusual behaviour and report any concerns promptly.
  • Assist with administering medication and vaccinations as directed by management or a veterinary professional.
  • Maintain accurate records of feeding, mortality, medication, vaccinations, and other farm activities.
  • Monitor bird mortality and promptly report any unusual increase.
  • Follow proper biosecurity measures to help prevent disease outbreaks.
  • Monitor feed, medication, and other farm supplies and report shortages to management.
  • Ensure proper ventilation and suitable environmental conditions for the birds.
  • Keep poultry equipment and facilities in good working condition.
  • Report any farm maintenance needs, operational challenges, or equipment faults to management.
  • Ensure the farm operates in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Perform any other poultry farm-related duties assigned by management.

Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in poultry farming or farm management is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of poultry care, feeding, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Ability to monitor and manage a poultry farm responsibly.
  • Ability to operate and monitor an automatic drinking system.
  • Must be hardworking, reliable, responsible, and physically fit.
  • Good observation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain basic farm records.
  • Must be willing to stay on the farm and make use of the accommodation provided.
  • Must be committed to ensuring the proper care and welfare of the birds.
