Job Description
VAC Auditors play a critical role in reviewing oral genealogy interviews collected by the Family History Department. These audits ensure that each record meets the Church’s standards for quality, accuracy, and authenticity before publication on FamilySearch.org. This position requires diligence, precision, and a commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities
- Conduct visual audits of oral genealogy interviews following documented processes and guidelines.
- Review and submit evaluated records (oral and digital).
- Listen to, review, and assess audio recordings for accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate feedback to contract organizations based on audit findings.
- Track and analyze reports to monitor progress and quality.
- Support team members in resolving submission issues.
- Assist with special projects for FamilySearch International in the Africa West Area.
- Train additional staff as needed.
- Prepare and ship packages related to project work.
- Contribute to process improvements for patron services in the Africa region.
Qualifications
- Membership Requirement: Must be an endowed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
- Education & Experience:
- Associate Degree, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in data analysis, customer support, or a related specialization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
- Ability to follow documented procedures under supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French (fluency required).
- Understanding of oral traditions, oral histories, and oral genealogy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn new software and web applications quickly and train others.
- Ability to schedule and monitor project progress and production workflows.
- Office or production environment management experience preferred.
- Personal Attributes:
- Integrity, adaptability, and collaborative mindset.
- Passion for family history and experience researching your own ancestors is highly desired.
