Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Mobile Phlebotomist role based in Kumasi. The Mobile Phlebotomist will travel to clinics, homes, and other designated locations to collect blood and other specimens in a safe, accurate, and professional manner. Responsibilities include verifying patient identity, explaining procedures, preparing collection sites, performing venipuncture and capillary draws, and labeling and documenting specimens according to laboratory protocols. The role involves maintaining sample integrity during transport, following infection control and safety guidelines, and coordinating with the central laboratory to ensure timely specimen delivery and reporting. The Mobile Phlebotomist will also provide courteous, empathetic patient interactions, assist with basic administrative tasks, and support quality improvement activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong Blood Collection skills, including venipuncture and capillary sampling, with a focus on patient comfort and safety.
- Foundational knowledge of Medicine and Medical Terminology to understand test orders, documentation, and clinical contexts.
- Laboratory Skills related to specimen handling, labeling, storage, and transport in line with standard operating procedures.
- Medical Assisting capabilities, such as vital signs measurement, basic patient preparation, and accurate record-keeping.
- Relevant certification or training in phlebotomy or medical laboratory technology; registration with appropriate local or national body is an advantage.
- Prior experience as a phlebotomist or in a clinical laboratory or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills, with a respectful and inclusive approach to all patients.
- Ability to travel locally within Kumasi, manage time effectively, and work independently while adhering to company protocols.
- Commitment to infection prevention, occupational health and safety, and strict confidentiality of patient information.
