Job description

Tropo Farms Ltd. is a leading aquaculture company in Ghana. We specialize in the sustainable production of high-quality tilapia, operating advanced hatcheries, floating cage farms, and a modern processing facility. As a key player in West Africa’s aquaculture sector, we are committed to innovation, environmental responsibility, and operational excellence.

As we expand our operations and infrastructure to meet growing demand, we are seeking passionate and skilled professionals to join our team. Working at Tropo Farms means being part of a forward-thinking company where your contributions directly impact food security, livelihoods, and sustainable development in the region.

If you are a results-driven Mechanical Maintenance Planner looking to take on exciting challenges in a unique production environment, we invite you to be part of our journey

You will responsible for the tactical organization of the Mechanical Maintenance Area. This role translates the strategic maintenance goals set by the Manager into executable work plans. The Planner manages the lifecycle of work orders, ensures the availability of spare parts before job scheduling, and maintains the integrity of the maintenance data (CMMS). The primary objective is to maximize technician "wrench time" and asset reliability while minimizing unscheduled downtime.

Responsibilities

·      Work Order Management: Review, prioritize, and schedule all incoming maintenance requests (notifications) for Land Vehicles, Marine Vessels, and Heavy Machinery, converting them into actionable Work Orders.

·       Preventive Maintenance (PM) Scheduling: Manage the master PM schedule, ensuring that services are triggered on time based on engine hours or calendar intervals, directly supporting the strategy defined by the Mechanical Manager.

·       Job Planning & Kitting: Analyze upcoming tasks to identify required resources (parts, tools, labor, and time). Coordinate with the Warehouse to "kit" materials before the scheduled execution date to prevent delays.

·       Backlog Management: Monitor and report on the maintenance backlog, working with Supervisors to ensure aging work orders are addressed or rescheduled efficiently.

·       Data Integrity & Reporting: Maintain accurate records in the maintenance software (CMMS). Generate reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as Schedule Compliance, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and asset costs to assist the Manager in budget execution.

Requirements

Professionals

·      Education: HND or BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Automotive Engineering.

·       Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or coordination within a heavy industry, fleet management, or agricultural setting.

Technical Knowledge:

·       Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is essential (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, or specialized software).

·       Solid understanding of mechanical systems (diesel engines, hydraulics) to accurately estimate job duration and parts requirements.

·       Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting

Personal

·      Organizational Skills: Exceptional ability to structure tasks, manage timelines, and coordinate multiple resources simultaneously.

·       Communication: Acts as a central information hub; must be able to communicate clearly with both technical staff (Supervisors) and administrative departments (Warehouse/Logistics).

·       Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze data trends to propose adjustments to maintenance intervals.

·       Proactivity: Anticipates conflicts in resources or schedules and resolves them before they impact operations.

Professional Titles

·      Maintenance Planner

·       Industrial Engineer

·       Mechanical Engineering Technician
