Role Description
The Mathematics Teacher – Upper Primary will deliver engaging, learner-centered mathematics lessons to upper primary students in line with the school’s curriculum and academic standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and preparing lesson plans, teaching mathematical concepts, assessing student performance, and providing constructive feedback to support learner progress. The teacher will maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment, use diverse teaching strategies and learning resources, and collaborate with colleagues and school leadership on curriculum implementation and student support. Additional tasks may involve participating in staff meetings, parent engagement activities, and professional development initiatives. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Accra.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality Mathematics lessons appropriate for Upper Primary learners.
- Teach Mathematics in line with the school's international curriculum and learning objectives.
- Apply proven knowledge and experience of the IGCSE Mathematics curriculum where applicable.
- Develop differentiated learning activities to meet the needs and abilities of individual students.
- Assess, record, and monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Identify learning gaps and implement appropriate intervention strategies.
- Maintain an engaging, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.
- Use technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance Mathematics learning.
- Prepare students effectively for internal and external assessments.
- Collaborate with other teachers and academic staff on curriculum planning and development.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and development.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development programmes, school activities, and events.
- Contribute to the wider academic and extracurricular life of the school.
- Maintain high standards of professional conduct, safeguarding, and student welfare.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Education, or a related discipline.
- Relevant teaching qualification/certification.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of teaching experience, preferably at Upper Primary level.
- Demonstrable experience teaching IGCSE Mathematics – essential.
- Previous experience teaching in an International School – essential.
- Strong understanding of international curricula and modern Mathematics teaching methodologies.
- Experience using technology and digital learning tools in the classroom will be an advantage.
