Job Summary
The Irrigation Foreman is responsible for leading and coordinating all irrigation activities across the farm. You shall be expected to plan, supervise and manage all irrigation operations on the farm which is primarily drip irrigation and ensure efficient water use, uniform crop irrigation and proper maintenance of irrigation systems to achieve optimal crop performance.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibility
Supervise daily irrigation schedules
- Monitor field operations for accuracy and timeliness. 100% adherence to daily irrigation plans
- Daily field visit reports. No missed or overlapping irrigation cycles
- Ensure the irrigation team perform their duties as expected.
- Ensure correct water application for each crop. Uniform water distribution observed across all blocks
- Records of irrigation hours per block
Weekly irrigation planning
- Prepare and communicate a weekly irrigation schedule based on crop needs, weather conditions, and water availability
- Proper communication of weeks plan early in the week
- 95% adherence to weekly plan
- No missed irrigation cycles
Training of irrigation and pump operators
- Train staff on irrigation techniques, pump operation, troubleshooting and safety
- Updated SOPs for irrigation and pump handling
- Operator performance evaluation reports
Oversee system repairs, drip installation and preventive maintenance
- Supervise all irrigation system repairs
- Organize scheduled maintenance of pumps, pipes, valves and filters
- Develop a maintenance checklist
Crop water requirement
- Ensure crops receive the right amount of water at each growth stage
- Monitor field conditions and adjust irrigation accordingly
- Work with agronomy team to align water and nutrient supply with crop goals
Fertigation management
- Plan fertigation schedules in collaboration with agronomy or crop nutrition team
- Oversee preparation and mixing of fertilizers for fertigation
- Monitor equipment to ensure proper flow rates and distribution
- Maintain records of fertilizer usage, timing and crop response
