Job summary
Bomarts Farms Limited invites applications from qualified, proactive, and detail-oriented professionals for the position of Assistant Certification Officer. The successful candidate will support the company in maintaining and renewing certifications and ensuring full compliance with international standards, including Fairtrade International (FLO), GLOBALG.A.P., requirements, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Organic (NOP & EU) Certifications.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Manage the renewal of FLO, GlobalGAP, Organic (NOP & EU) Certifications.
- Handle all Fairtrade-related compliance matters.
- Organize and facilitate training programmes for workers and management on certification standards.
- Develop and implement the company’s Environmental Management Plan.
- Ensure strict compliance with certification body standards (e.g., approved chemical lists, use of protective clothing, etc.).
- Regularly source and update certification information from relevant bodies.
- Conduct internal audits twice annually using approved checklists.
- Carry out routine farm visits to assess compliance levels
- Train staff and management on GlobalGAP standards and requirements.
- Develop and implement HACCP and Quality Management Systems for packhouses.
- Ensure company policies on environmental protection and conservation are adhered to.
- Supervise microbial analysis of water used for fruit washing and irrigation.
- Ensure soil, leaf, fertilizer, and other required laboratory tests are conducted in line with standards.
- Coordinate the activities of the HACCP Team, Fairtrade Premium Committee, and other relevant committees.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive certification database.
- Ensure compliance with Fairtrade and GlobalGAP standards.
- Support successful certification audits.
- Organize training programmes for SPO members on standards and certification requirements.
- Work with regulatory agencies such as EPA, GSA and others to ensure the company is in compliance with requirements and all necessary certificates are renewed.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Management.
- Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Agriculture or a related field.
- Should have at least between 1-3 years of working experience
- Applicant must be below 45 years of age.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with strong ability to prepare analytical reports, compliance dashboards, and professional presentations.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, particularly in delivering structured presentations, preparing technical and compliance reports, and communicating effectively with auditors, management, and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex certification requirements into clear operational guidelines and training materials.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Must be willing to relocate to Nsawam, Eastern Region. (Applicants residing in Nsawam or surrounding areas are encouraged to apply.)
