Independent Speech And Language Therapist

The Speech and Language Therapist will be responsible for providing
individualized and small-group therapy to enhance speech, language, and
communication development for students from Pre-K through to Grade 12.
Key Responsibilities
● Assess and evaluate students' speech, language, and social
communication abilities using standardized and informal assessment tools
● Develop and implement individualized intervention plans based on
assessment results
● Provide direct therapy services in both one-to-one and small group settings
● Monitor student progress and adjust intervention strategies accordingly
● Create and maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and student progress
● Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate speech and language goals into the curriculum
● Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support students with diverse needs
● Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and provide strategies for home practice
● Participate in meetings and contribute to the development of individualized learning plans
● Support students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
● Stay current with evidence-based practices in speech-language pathology
● Provide training and guidance to teachers and teaching assistants on supporting students with communication needs
● Participate in school-wide initiatives and professional development activities
Qualifications & Certification
● Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
● Valid license/certification in Speech-Language Pathology Knowledge, Experience & Skills
● Minimum of three years of experience working with children ages 3-18 in educational settings
● Knowledge of developmental speech and language milestones and disorders
● Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems
● Understanding of international education environments (preferred)
● Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills
● Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
● Organized and detail-oriented with excellent time management skills
● Familiarity with technology and digital tools such as Google, Word documents, Excel, and AAC devices
● Training in specific therapeutic approaches (e.g., PROMPT, V&V, etc.)
Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
● Valid license/certification in Speech-Language Pathology
Working Hours, Schedule, and Contract Conditions
● Employed on an independent contractor basis.
● Position following the academic calendar (August - June)
● Starting at 3 days a week and up to 5 days (full-time) based on the
case load (Monday - Friday).
