Job summary
The Academic Head of a Christian Basic (Primary and Junior High) School with approximately 400 pupils between the ages of 5 and 14 years, preparing pupils for the BECE and which aims to provide its pupils with the moral and academic foundation which will help them to achieve their maximum potential in adult life. The Head is required to provide the Educational leadership of the School, develop and implement policies and strategies to improve teaching and learning outcomes. The Headmistress, in conjunction with a Chief Executive, will be responsible for hiring, mentoring and evaluating teachers and other school staff; and provide the requisite inputs to the Budgetary Process, all in support of the above strategies. The Headmistress will be required to maintain discipline, promote a safe and conducive learning environment, while fostering positive relationships with parents and guardians.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Review, develop and implement School Policies & Procedures to improve Teaching & Learning outcomes.
- Analyse the current weaknesses in learning delivery and pupil performance
- Develop and implement strategies in response to the above, to improve the performance of pupils at all levels.
- Foster a safe environment, conducive to learning.
- Working in conjunction with the Chief Executive, hire, supervise, evaluate and mentor staff in support of the above.
- Plan, Oversee and Manage the requisite resource allocation to support the strategies required for an improvement in learning outcomes and pupil performance.
- Working with the Accountant and Chief Executive, provide the requisite inputs to assist in the preparation of the School’s Budget
Minimum Academic Qualifications & Experience
- A First Degree in Education or a First Degree with a Post Graduate Qualification in Education
- A minimum of 20 years teaching experience.
- A minimum of 5 years experience as a Head of Department or higher.
- Experienced in handling demanding parents/guardians
