Famano Health is looking for a qualified, motivated, and patient-focused Obstetrician & Gynecologist to join our growing women’s health practice in Accra. This is a comprehensive, hands-on role combining clinical practice, patient follow-up, medical records management, and laboratory coordination.

Location: Famano Health — Accra, Ghana
Contract Type: Permanent
Start Date: Immediate
Working Hours: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | On-call duties possible
Remuneration: Competitive and negotiable based on experience

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Clinical Consultations & Patient Care
▸ Conduct routine and specialist gynecological consultations;
▸ Perform clinical examinations including cervical screening, pelvic examinations, and ultrasounds;
▸ Manage antenatal care from 1st to 3rd trimester including routine prenatal visits;
▸ Diagnose and treat gynecological conditions including infections, hormonal imbalances, PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, and vaginal health concerns;
▸ Provide contraception counselling, family planning, and menopause management;
▸ Ensure post-operative and post-partum follow-up of patients.
2. Minor Procedures & Clinical Skills
▸ IUD insertion and removal; contraceptive implant placement;
▸ Cervical biopsies, loop excision (LEEP), and cryotherapy when indicated;
▸ Management of gynecological emergencies in clinic;
▸ Participation in deliveries if applicable.
3. Laboratory Coordination & Results Management
▸ Prescribe and monitor biological tests including STI screening, hormonal panels, vaginal cultures, CBC, TSH, AMH, etc.;
▸ Receive, analyze, and interpret laboratory and imaging results;
▸ Communicate results to patients clearly and sensitively;
▸ Liaise with partner laboratories and imaging providers;
▸ Ensure follow-up on abnormal results and appropriate clinical actions.
4. Administrative Management
▸ Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR);
▸ Manage appointment scheduling and patient flow;
▸ Write clinical reports, prescriptions, and medical certificates;
▸ Handle billing and liaise with health insurance providers;
▸ Ensure compliance with hygiene, sterilization, and confidentiality standards.
5. Patient Experience & Communication
▸ Welcome patients in a warm, professional, and non-judgmental environment;
▸ Explain diagnoses, treatment options, and procedures clearly;
▸ Support patients through sensitive moments including fertility challenges and reproductive health concerns;
▸ Provide preventive health education including cervical cancer screening, breast health, STI prevention, and vaginal wellness.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Qualifications & Credentials
▸ Medical degree with specialist qualification in Gynecology.
▸ Valid registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana (MDC) — mandatory;
▸ Additional training in fertility, fetal medicine, or urogynecology is an advantage.
Experience
▸ Minimum 2 years post-specialization clinical experience in gynecolgy.
▸ Previous experience in private practice or women’s health clinics preferred;
▸ Proficiency in gynecological and obstetric ultrasound is desirable.
Technical Skills
▸ Competence in routine gynecological procedures.
▸ Ability to interpret complex medical laboratory reports.
▸ Knowledge of WHO and Ghana Health Service antenatal care protocols.
▸ Comfortable using EMR systems and digital scheduling tools.
