Job summary

The Food Take-Out Cashier is responsible for receiving customer orders, processing payments, coordinating with the kitchen and delivery riders, and ensuring every takeaway customer receives fast, accurate, and friendly service. This role is customer-facing and critical to revenue control and brand experience.

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities:
Order Taking & Cash Handling
  • Receive walk-in, phone, and WhatsApp orders accurately.
  • Enter orders into POS or order book clearly and correctly.
  • Collect payments via cash, MoMo, or card and issue receipts.
  • Balance cash drawer at end of shift and submit sales reports.

Customer Service
  • Greet customers warmly and assist with menu selections.
  • Communicate waiting times clearly.
  • Handle complaints calmly and escalate when necessary.
  • Ensure customers leave satisfied and informed.

Order Coordination
  • Liaise with kitchen staff to confirm preparation status.
  • Pack takeaway orders neatly and verify completeness before handover.
  • Coordinate with delivery riders for dispatch orders.
  • Ensure correct labeling of delivery packages.

Counter Hygiene & Presentation
  •  Keep cashier area clean, organized, and professional at all times.
  • Ensure menus, price lists, and promotional materials are visible.
  • Follow food safety and cleanliness standards.

Records & Reporting
  • Maintain daily sales summaries.
  • Track takeaway volumes and popular items.
  • Report shortages, pricing issues, or customer trends to supervisor.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum SHS certificate.
  • Previous cashier or restaurant experience preferred.
  • Basic numeracy and ability to handle money accurately.
  • Familiarity with Mobile Money transactions.
  • Ability to use POS system or learn quickly.
  • Honest, punctual, and customer-oriented.
  • Able to work weekends and public holidays.
