Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the maintenance and repair of the company’s self-owned trucks, trailers, and commercial vehicles.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance (PM) schedules to ensure vehicles are serviced on time.
  • Diagnose and coordinate the repair of vehicle breakdowns and major mechanical faults.
  • Supervise maintenance technicians, assign repair tasks, and inspect the quality of completed work.
  • Oversee maintenance of diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Analyze recurring vehicle faults and conduct root cause analysis to reduce repeated breakdowns.
  • Manage the procurement, usage, and inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance materials.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, servicing, breakdowns, and component replacements.
  • Monitor maintenance costs, spare parts consumption, repair efficiency, and vehicle availability.
  • Coordinate with drivers to identify vehicle defects and arrange timely repairs.
  • Manage relationships with external workshops, maintenance contractors, and service providers when required.
  • Conduct regular inspections of vehicle conditions to ensure vehicles are safe and fit for operation.
  • Prepare regular reports on fleet maintenance status, breakdown rates, maintenance costs, and vehicle availability.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in commercial vehicle or heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or workshop management role.
  • Experience maintaining trucks, trailers, or heavy-duty commercial vehicles is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering, and vehicle electrical systems.
  • Good understanding of preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance.
  • Strong troubleshooting, maintenance planning, and team management skills.
  • Experience in spare parts management and maintenance cost control.
  • Good knowledge of vehicle safety inspections and applicable road safety regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Previous experience managing a fleet workshop will be an advantage.
