Job Description/Requirements
The Driver Supervisor should be field oriented and have a passion for training and managing drivers, with the ability to coach drivers, reinforce standards, and build strong relationships grounded in truck and accountability. Key responsibilities include:
Driver Management
- Oversee the day-to-day driver activities, ensuring performance standards are maintained
- Track and monitor driver activities, performance, and compliance with Nomad’s operational procedures and applicable transport regulations
- Monitor and ensure drivers are consistently achieving their KPIs by conducting regular performance reviews and providing feedback to support continuous improvement
- Conduct regular driver assessments, providing feedback and coaching to address performance gaps
- Work closely with Transport Officers and Fleet Maintenance Team to ensure drivers are properly assigned, supported, and equipped for successful execution of their responsibilities
- Address driver issues and concerns, fostering positive relationships and maintaining high morale among drivers
- Investigate and resolve incidents, accidents, or operational challenges involving drivers, and implement corrective actions as needed
- Prepare regular reports and performance summaries related to driver management and development. Maintain comprehensive driver records, including certifications, licenses, training history, and disciplinary actions
Driver Recruitment & Onboarding
- Collaborate with Management and HR to identify driver staffing needs
- Lead the recruitment process, including sourcing CVs, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and checking references
- Oversee the onboarding of new drivers – such as documentation, uniform issuance, introduction to company systems and policies
- Assign new drivers to appropriate trucks based on experience and company needs
Training & Development
- Develop and implement effective driver training programs covering defensive driving, safety procedures, customer service, and operational best practices
- Conduct comprehensive onboarding training for all new drivers
- Lead regular refresher training sessions for existing drivers to reinforce safety practices and improve performance
- Organize and deliver targeted coaching and training sessions on issues like fuel consumption, defensive driving, maintenance, etc
- Organize and lead toolbox meetings or safety briefings to communicate updates and expectations
- Monitor training effectiveness and adjust programs based on performance data, feedback, and observed behaviour
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development among all drivers
Requirements:
- Minimum education: Diploma
- 3 years+ experience in a similar role
