The COO will be responsible for creating and executing strategies to drive the efficient management of supply chain and infrastructure to ensure seamless delivery of core business activities as well as provide ownership for new store roll-out.

Job Description/Requirements

 Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

Organization-wide Strategy Articulation

  •  Contribute to the articulation of the organization-wide strategy, providing insight on emerging trends, opportunities, risks from a commercial perspective, and interventions to drive business growth.


 Commercial Strategy Articulation and Implementation

  •  Drive the articulation of the organization's overall commercial strategy, exploring various business models (including online and brick-and-mortar) to develop a bespoke model and approach for the business.
  • Drive implementation of the commercial strategy in actualizing revenue goals across sales, marketing, new product development, merchandising, merchandising route-to-market etc., all targeted at driving business and market share expansion.
  • Design and maintain bespoke programs, products and services, leveraging extensive knowledge of consumer behaviour and purchasing habits, to drive customer retention.
  • Provide oversight on the management of operations of all retail outlets, ensuring revenue targets are achieved.


 Supply Chain Management

  •  Oversee the articulation of the organization's end-to-end supply chain blueprint, detailing the strategy down to key tactics and corresponding activities.
  • Oversee the implementation of the defined supply chain strategy across key functions such as Warehousing, Procurement, Distribution and Fulfilment, ensuring adherence to defined strategy and best practice.
  • Oversee long term procurement planning and demonstrate ownership for implementing strategic cost optimization programs to maintain a competitive edge in the market.


 Marketing and Brand Management

  •  Serve as the custodian of the brand, ensuring adherence of all organizational activities to expected brand guidelines.
  •  Lead all aspects of the organization's marketing efforts, including products and service brand development, portfolio development and customer engagement.
  • Provide oversight on the management of the customer experience, designing the overall strategy to ensure customer engagement and satisfaction at all touchpoints.
  • Serve as liaison to key external stakeholders including government, community, media and regulatory bodies, furthering the objectives of the business.

 

Collaboration and Partnerships

  •  Support the Identification, development and management of strategic partnerships and collaborations with partners both across the healthcare value chain (including regulators) and other key industries (both drug and non-drug) for the benefit of the business.
  •  Identify and build required synergies and collaborations with key stakeholders across the distribution value chain.


 Business Process Improvement

  •  Drive process improvement through the entire value chain system: identifying gaps, and remodeling flows to account for efficiency, effectiveness, and improved turnaround time.
  •  Conduct value stream mapping assessments on an ongoing basis to drive process improvements across the entirety of the supply chain process.
  • Supervise material resource requirements across the product categories and drive efficient procurement/distribution strategies to minimize waste and improve service levels.
  • Evaluate business-wide risks, systemic, industry-specific, local, and focal: provides data-driven mitigating strategies to mitigate losses.


Strategic Projects and New store Roll-out

  •  Define the overall project management framework for the business.
  • Oversee the implementation of this framework in the management of strategic projects.
  • Provide oversight/ central coordination on project management for new store rollouts.
  • Drive planning, budgeting, execution, and post evaluation of new stores including
  • Prequalification of sites, development of standards for site selection, expansion models, structure, staffing, marketing strategies, and inventory assortment.

 

Facility and Asset Management

  •  Oversee the articulation and implementation of strategies to ensure optimal capacity utilization, maintenance and management of the company’s assets, infrastructure and facilities to meet business needs.

 

Requirements:

  •  First Degree
  •  A postgraduate qualification or an MBA would be an advantage.
  • Experience
  • Minimum of 10years’ post-qualification experience in a similar role, 3 years at senior management
  •  Knowledge, Skills, and Competency Requirements
  •  Deep understanding of the healthcare industry, and key players across the healthcare value chain
  •  An entrepreneurial thinker with strong business intelligence and commercial acumen
  • Proven experience as commercial director or other relevant senior leadership role and or in sales and/or marketing and managing relationships with key clients.
  •  In-depth understanding of market research methods and analysis; and of performance reporting; and of financial/budgeting processes. Ability to translate data to actionable plans is a must for the role.
  •  Comprehensive leadership level knowledge of products and service marketing, brand development and management; and customer service management.
  • Strong experience in proposition and pricing development, customer retention and loyalty, investment, and capital/revenue management.
  •  Good understanding of supply chain management, able to identify and build required synergies and collaborations with key stakeholders across the distribution value chain.
  • Exceptional people skills–emotionally intelligent, able to connect, build and develop relationships and enjoy working collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and experience building strategic partnerships.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to quickly establish credibility.
  • Excellent communication, business presentation and persuasion skills
