Job Offer Details
The Role: We are seeking a Woodworker Carpenter Experienced Craftsman with strong technical expertise and a passion for teaching the next generation of woodworking professionals. The successful candidate will split their time between:

  • Practical project work with CETECH Ghana’s Wood Works Division, and
  • Teaching and training responsibilities at IPES Ghana, delivering a range of woodwork programs from short-term to multi-year courses.

Salary Expectation: Negotiable depends on experience and relevant skill sets.
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent / Part-Time, Contract
Experience Level: Mid to Senior Experience Level
Key Responsibilities

  • Technical / Project Work (CETECH Ghana)
  • Lead and perform woodworking projects, including joinery, furniture making, finish carpentry, and interior fit-outs
  • Oversee quality control and ensure precision in wood joinery and finishes
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and woodworking designs (CAD experience is a plus)
  • Troubleshoot and solve on-site woodworking challenges
  • Mentor junior craftsmen and apprentices on project sites
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and Ghanaian building codes

Teaching / Training (IPES Ghana)
Deliver structured woodwork courses ranging from 3 months to 2 years, covering:

  • Basic Carpentry & Apprenticeship skills
  • Maintenance and Emergency Carpentry techniques
  • Joinery & Cabinet Making
  • Furniture Making
  • Finish Carpentry & Interior Fit-Outs
  • Woodworking Design and Drafting (CAD preferred)
  • Prepare lesson plans, hands-on exercises, and student assessments
  • Train students in the safe use of tools, machines, and finishing techniques
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback
  • Collaborate with CETECH and IPES teams to maintain curriculum relevance and TVET compliance.

Required
Qualifications & Experience

  • TVET Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s Degree in Woodworking, Carpentry, Furniture Design, or a closely related field
  • Minimum 5–8 years of practical woodworking experience, covering a variety of disciplines including joinery, furniture making, and finish carpentry
  • At least 1–2 years of formal or informal teaching, training, or mentorship experience
  • Proficient in woodworking tools, machinery, and safety standards
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred

  • Experience with CAD or woodworking design software
  • Prior experience working in a TVET institution or technical training environment
  • Hands-on experience in emergency and maintenance carpentry
  • Passion for mentoring students and developing technical skills in others
