Job Description

The Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the financial health of the company, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and providing key insights to support decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.

Responsibilities

1. Providing financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing reports.

2. Preparing asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.

3. Documenting financial transactions by entering account information.

4. Recommending financial actions by analyzing accounting options.

5. Summarizing current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports.

6. Substantiating financial transactions by auditing documents.

7. Maintaining accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.

8. Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.

9. Reconciling financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.

10. Securing financial information by completing database backups.

11. Maintaining financial security by following internal controls.

12. Preparing payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.

13. Answering accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policies and regulations.

14. Complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.

15. Preparing special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.

16. Maintaining customer confidence and protecting operations by keeping financial information confidential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with two years within an engineering or construction firm.
• Proficiency in accounting software.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
