Account Officer

Our client, a leading travel and tour company in the hospitality industry, is looking to hire an Account Officer to join their team. Reporting to the Director and Manager, you will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring accuracy in reporting, supporting compliance requirements, and providing financial insights to support strategic decision-making. You will also be responsible for ensuring strict adherence to Ghanaian regulations and reporting standards.
Responsibilities
- Analyse revenue, commissions, and expenses to ensure accurate recording and proper classification.
- Conduct periodic internal reviews to prevent errors and ensure compliance.
- Compile and prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules in line with closing timelines.
- Contribute to budget preparation, financial forecasting, and expense analysis to guide business decisions.
- Contribute to management discussions by providing meaningful financial insights, not just numerical data.
- Handle the preparation and filing of tax returns in accordance with Ghanaian tax regulations.
- Monitor transactions and flag activities that may expose the organization to financial, compliance, or reputational risk.
- Facilitate and complete month-end financial reporting activities
- Stay abreast on changes in Ghanaian accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) requirements and statutory filings.
- Provide support during external and internal financial audits.
- Evaluate the financial implications of operational and strategic decisions.
Requirements
- Must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
- Must have at least a minimum of three (3) years’ relevant accounting experience.
- Must be a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) or actively pursuing ICAG/ACCA with exams in progress.
- Strong proficiency in Financial Systems, Microsoft Office Suite and Accounting Software such as QuickBooks, Xero and SAP.
- Possess strong multitasking abilities, analytical and organizational skills.
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to pay attention to detail and problem solve.
- Possess strong customer-service skills and the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.
- Possess a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
- A valid Ghanaian driver’s license is an added advantage.
