Job summary

The Waiter/Waitress is responsible for providing excellent customer service in a restaurant, café, hotel, or event setting. The role focuses on taking orders, serving food and beverages, ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining a clean and welcoming dining environment.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Greet customers warmly and guide them to their tables.
  • Present menus, provide recommendations, and answer customer questions about dishes and beverages.
  • Take accurate food and drink orders and relay them to the kitchen and bar staff.
  • Serve food and beverages promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure tables are clean, organized, and properly set before and after service.
  • Handle customer complaints or special requests professionally and escalate to supervisors when necessary.
  • Assist with billing, processing payments, and handling cash or card transactions.
  • Maintain knowledge of menu items, specials, and promotions.
  • Follow health, hygiene, and safety standards at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members to provide smooth and efficient service.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum secondary education; hospitality training is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in food service, restaurants, or catering preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Professional appearance, hygiene, and etiquette.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and carry items for extended periods.
