Job Summary

To ensure all rubber tyre fleet at all the company locations run at minimum cost and at maximum efficiency with a high level of safety. To supervise and monitor contractor staff and performance and also identify and develop a tyre maintenance team. To ensure data entries are made correctly, procedures are followed and safety standards adhered to.

  • Minimum Qualification: HND

Job Description/Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Regularly check the operating fleet for required tyre/rim work.
  • Regularly check fleet pressures to ensure contractors and/or own employees are completing required tasks correctly.
  • Regularly take fleet tyre/hour/ distance surveys.
  • Perform regular checks on mine operating conditions for operating areas of the mine.
  • Regularly perform time/distance studies {TKPH} on regular or new runs.
  • Monitor operator awareness with regards to tyre damage.
  • Report to production supervisors and areas of the mine that need attention.
  • Complete onsite heat studies with the tyre manufacturers.


Work Shop:

  • Chair the tyre serviceman morning and evening shift pre-start meeting if on site.
  • Allocate required duties to personnel if on site.
  • Liaise with work shop planners for machine job scheduling.
  • Ensure all allocated tasks are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure required paperwork is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all tyre fitters are correctly trained and competent to perform their required tasks.


Administration:

  • Enter tyre and rim change data into the tyre database daily.
  • Enter survey data into the required system when required.
  • Track mining machinery downtime.
  • Check and track contractor tyre maintenance equipment is adequate and reliable.
  • Complete tyre damage reports.
  • Write and update procedures required for all company operations with regards to Tyre fitting and rim work.
  • Report in writing to site managers and maintenance superintendents when a site visit has been conducted.
  • Report daily to Maintenance Manager or the site maintenance superintendent when the RI tyre manager is not present.
  • Issue materials requisitions for all new tyres used.
  • Order required consumable items – after gaining permission from the tyre manager.
  • Help in the planning of fleet tyre management.
  • Attend the weekly maintenance planning meeting.
  • Perform operator awareness training.
  • Perform tyre fitter training.
  • Perform all general tyre related office duties. Safety
  • Complete weekly audits on safety and procedure compliance {Safe act observations}
  • Compile a detailed report for any safety incidents.
  • Perform monthly safety audits for the safety department and act of the required actions.


Travel

  • Regularly travel to other locations of operations for site inspections within Ghana.
  • Travel to new operational locations within Ghana to facilitate tyre associated set up and personnel training when required.


Certifications:

  • Tertiary qualification relating to maintenance from a recognized institution
  • Trade certified in heavy duty equipment
  • Workshop Management certificate from a recognized institution


Education and Experience

  • Minimum qualification Degree/HND/Tech Part III or its equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience on maintenance supervisory roles
  • Minimum 5 years’ or more proven experience on tyre management for earth moving machinery.

  • Must know the use and names of general tyre bay tooling and equipment
  • Must know the use and names of all rim and tyre parts and consumable items to a high standard
  • Knowledge of general mining fleet tyre change procedures
  • Knowledge of the difference between demountable and disk wheels and the associated dangers
  • Knowledge of use of general office equipment including computers


Licenses

  • Current Driving License
  • MinCom Certification
