Role Description The Textile Designer will create original textile concepts and patterns that reflect the company’s focus on African heritage and contemporary fashion. Day-to-day tasks include developing textile prints and graphics, exploring embroidery techniques, preparing design specifications, and collaborating with fashion and media teams to translate concepts into production-ready designs. The role involves researching trends, colors, and materials relevant to African-inspired textiles, and adapting designs for digital and physical applications. The Textile Designer will maintain organized design files, respond to feedback from stakeholders, and ensure that all work aligns with brand guidelines and quality standards. This is a contract role and is fully remote, requiring consistent communication and timely delivery of all design assignments.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Embroidery and Textile Prints, with the ability to develop culturally grounded and contemporary textile concepts.
  • Proficiency in Textiles and Graphic Design, including the creation of textile-specific graphics suitable for digital and physical production.
  • Experience working with textile-related Graphics, including print repeats, placement prints, and pattern layout for fashion and lifestyle products.
  • Solid command of industry-standard design software (such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar tools) for textile and graphic development.
  • Understanding of fabric types, printing techniques, color theory, and basic production processes for fashion and lifestyle products.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in fashion, textiles, or surface design is preferred; familiarity with African visual culture and heritage-inspired design is an advantage.
  • Relevant education in Textile Design, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
